What Dr. Houchang Hassan-Yari Said:

Masters of the Situation

The Brits really were the masters of this situation, but they were extremely weakened because of the Second World War. So since they were actively involved in the war, they become extremely weak as French forces. And that created a huge opportunity really for new powers to emerge, the US and the Soviet Union.

The Gendarme of the Persian Gulf

Iran was enough powerful to become what they are going to call it later on, the Gendarme of the Persian Gulf. So in that sense, the calm that was created in the region helped really the Iranians to enforce their military capabilities.

Iran and Oman

And the Iranian forces came to the rescue of some of pro-western regimes in the region. The most notable was the Sultanate of Oman. When that country was confronted to a leftist kind of rebellion in the Dhofar region, southwest of Oman, the Iranian regime, the Iranian government sent less than 2,000 soldiers to put down that rebellion. Oman continues today, continue to appreciate that help they got from the Iranian regime.
